blakeney
Blakeney is home to a naturally formed Spit - Blakeney Point. Blakeney Point is a natural sea defence that has developed at Blakeney as a result of a drop in wave energy and the subsequent deposition of sediment. Due to these conditions, salt marshes, mud flats and sand dunes have formed, giving Blakeney Point a widely diverse natural habitat. As a result it has become a National Nature Reserve. In addition, it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (or SSSI) due to rare bird species and seals that inhabit the Spit at various times of the year.
